Protecting Teens on the Internet: Gaps and Agreement in Perceptions Between Parents and Children

3/16/2005 | PresentationPresentation  | Amanda Lenhart

Presented to Casey Journalism Center on Children & Families Conference "The New Generation Gap: Barriers and Breakthroughs"

This short presentation addresses the Project’s late 2004 findings on the steps that parents are taking to protect their teenage children online. It looks at the similarities and differences between parents and their teens over a teen’s online behavior and parent’s monitoring activities, provides the project’s most recent findings on the number of teens online and offline, and presents a snapshot of some demographic differences in reported attitudes and behaviors.
