Web's Now The Playground For Kids Who Like To Bully

'"The teenage years are just as cruel as ever, except now they're online — which can make matters worse.

Cyberbullies have picked on about two-fifths of teen girls and a quarter of teen boys, a poll of nearly 900 Internet users in that age group shows. Much bullying is a bratty kind by classmates, though about 13% of teens say they've received threatening e-mail, IM or text messages, says a study due out late Wednesday from the Pew Internet & American Life Project.

"The best analogy from offline bullying isn't necessarily the fist to the gut," said Pew researcher Amanda Lenhart. "It's more the psychological bullying. It's the mean notes, the rumors, something cruel scrawled on the bathroom wall."

Many news sites move articles into data bases after a period of time and then offer them for sale, in the process changing the URLs that link to them. Or they require registration. Thus, we provide a link to the front page of the news website and the information necessary to find the story on that site, rather than a direct link to the article.
